What is Rotary?

Rotary International is a global network of men and women
service volunteers whose motto is "SERVICE ABOVE SELF"

Rotarians are organised in clubs of different sizes depending on the size of their communities. In some towns two or more clubs may exist. Clubs vary in their activities as each club decides how it wants to use the resources it has available.

Rotary has grown since the first club was founded in 1905. There are now over 32,000 clubs with a worldwide total membership of more than 1.2 Million.

Rotarians provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world, through studying and reacting to the needs of their communities and networking globally to address issues such as disease, water shortage, famine and hunger.

Through its Foundation Rotary encourages and pays for annual
programmes of scholarships, youth and graduate exchange between countries and with grants and direct donations for humanitarian causes.

These are but few outlines of what Rotary is about. So why not click on the Rotary International and RIBI links to learn more.

Worthy of mention is the 4 WAY TEST adopted by Rotary for Rotarians to guide them in their business and professional life:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
