Founded in 1905, it has a membership of 1.2 million business and professional men and women spread over 32,000 clubs in
more than 200 countries. It is therefore a global network of service volunteers, many of which are retired, wanting to serve their communities and beyond.
There are some 58,000 Rotarians in GB and Ireland in 1845
Clubs helping those in need and working towards world
understanding and peace. But there is much more. Clubs
meet on a regular basis, which allows members to build
firm friendships. Every Rotarian has a right to attend
any club meeting anywhere in the world, so there is always
somewhere to go and people to meet, whenever business or
leisure takes you.
Rotary has been the driver of the world action on the
eradication of Polio from the world, a noted project
exemplifying Rotary's Motto of "service above self".
My Motto for my club this year is "service through fellowship"
We welcome like minded people to join us, so why not come
along and see us in action. We meet on Mondays for lunch at
Hoebridge Golf Club.
