THANKS FOR LIFE

This year, to celebrate the birth of Rotary on 23rd February 1905, Rotary Clubs throughout Great Britain and Ireland will be involved in the ‘Thanks for Life’ project. Its aim is to help eradicate polio throughout the world by the year 2012. In 1985 Rotary International started its ‘Polio Plus’ programme to help eradicate polio by working with the World Health Organisation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and UNICEF. Since that date 2 billion children have been vaccinated and polio has virtually disappeared from all but four countries.

The ‘Thanks for Life’ project will raise the profile of the work already done and Rotary’s involvement in it.

The Rotary Club of Woking with it’s two daughter clubs of Woking District and Ripley and Send will be working together on presenting the project to the Woking area.
