Fund Allocation

Sue Jackson - President

The Rotary Club of Woking enjoys being part of the local community and offers support and provides assistance where it is required both for individuals and charities in the area.

Rotary was founded in 1905 and is the oldest and largest service organisation, it has a membership of 1.2 million business and professional men and women spread over 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries.

There are some 58,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,845 Clubs.

Rotary is not just about helping others and fund-raising. We meet regularly within our own club enjoying the fellowship this generates. Rotarians are given a warm welcome at any other club in the world.

Rotarians are encouraged to give their time in personal service as part of our commitment as well as supporting fund raising events. Last year we launched our biggest fundraiser, a Swimathon and after the success we had with this we will be continuing and expanding it this year.

In 2010 our District plans to have a Rotary Day celebrated on February 23rd, the birthday of Rotary International and whilst promoting Rotary we also intend to give a final push to the eradication of Polio with the help of Bill Gates who has offered to more than match our fundraising.

This year the President of Rotary International is a Scot, John Kenny and his motto for the year is “The Future is in Your Hands” he believes this starts at club level and is in the hands of each and every Rotarian.

We meet weekly at Hoebridge Golf Club, Mondays except bank holidays for lunch and welcome visitors.
